What To Have To Promote The Best Meditation
If you have watched any movie that has a meditation scene, it probably involved some crossed legs and a lot of ‘oohhhmm’ sounds. While this is used in some meditation, it is not what meditation really is in practice.
Meditation dives into your mind and getting in touch with your higher self. You can use this to relax, process, and practice mindfulness. There are guided meditations and self-guided meditations. If you are new you may want to start out with guided meditations.
Here are several things you can do to get the most out of your meditation session:
If your space is cluttered or dirty, it can negatively impact your meditation session. Having a clean and decluttered room is refreshing and can promote you decluttering your emotional baggage and stress. This does not mean that your room has to be absolutely perfect all the time, life is messy and can get out of control.
This does mean that if you want to make your meditation session a little extra special and meaningful, you may consider cleaning the room before you practice. Cleaning is another great way to burn some extra calories while also creating a clean space.
The Noise Around You
There are some things that you cannot control, like how loud others are. But what you can control is where you go to practice meditation. This is going to take some experimenting since there are a lot of different places where you can go to practice. If you live in a noisy place or your kids just can’t seem to stay quiet for long, you may think about going to a quiet park.
You can also block out some noise by listening to quiet meditation music. This is a great option if you are not around a lot of noise but would like it to be really quiet. Using headphones or earbuds during a guided meditation can help cancel out surrounding noise.
Your State of Mind
If you are not in a great headspace you will probably not have a great meditation session. A way to prevent this from happening is to set an intention before you start your session. If you are feeling sad or depressed, you could set an intention to be open to whatever happens or open to being happy.
Your meditation session can be a wonderful way to keep yourself emotionally stable and healthy. Throughout your session, you can release tension, anxiety, and even frustration as you explore the wonders of meditation.
Your nose is a powerful part of your body. It is where air enters and exits your body. It is also the place where you receive different smells around you. There is a practice known as aromatherapy that offers insight into the healing properties of different smells. Essential oils can be diffused into an oil diffuser, put on your wrists, forehead, and behind your ears.
Listen to Your Body
Your body is going to reveal important information to you throughout the entire session. In fact, your body is giving you feedback throughout the day and even at night. When you receive this information it will likely manifest itself in pain, muscle tightness, and even headaches.
After you have received this information you will need to do something about it. If you feel pain in your legs or torso, you may need to switch positions so your body is not in pain. You may need to stretch, move around, or even exercise more to prevent it from happening. There is no need to worry, if you are listening, your body will tell you want it needs.
Meditation is something that takes time, patience, and practice. There are different ways to practice meditation and it really is just a matter of finding what way is best for you. Try meditation out sometime this week!
