What Is To Be Satisfied- Need Or Greed? What Is Need? What Is Greed?

It is Need above Greed!

Need is to fulfil our necessity to live an adequate life – such as sufficient funds for food, to be able to pay our bills, our health costs, to meet education fees, basic daily requirements to match our standard of living – to the point that you are content and happy.

Greed, on the other hand, can never be fulfilled. Greed is a glass never filled, it is bottomless, the more you put into the glass that much more is needed. In short, Needs are finite, and greed on the other hand are infinite!

Greed is to become constantly engrossed in anything that becomes dear to you. Greed is the reason why you find no satisfaction even after you acquire it. A greedy person is preoccupied with his greed from the moment he wakes up until he goes to bed at night. That is called greed. From the moment he wakes up, he is driven by his greed; he does not even stop to relax and enjoy what he has accumulated.

He is consumed with his greed the whole day long, looking for ways to accumulate more. The moment he enters the grocery store, his greed is there. When he goes to the local market, he knows exactly where the vegetables are expensive and where to find cheap ones. He then heads for the stall that sells cheaper vegetables every time. This is how he roams around the whole day long, in vain.

Greed is nothing but the endless desire to get more and more things in life. Greed is what dictates our actions and thoughts if one is not cautious enough. It is greed that makes us chase after money, position, fame and so on. Greed takes away our inner peace and makes us a slave to accumulate.

The Guiding Principles regarding Money:

One is free to save and accumulate wealth but without a desire to accumulate it. Do not obstruct money if it comes your way and do not go digging for it if it does not.

The science behind money is – Money is predestined to come to you. And it will not stay just because you want it to stay, it will leave when it is time for it to leave. You cannot obstruct or accumulate it. But you can value and respect it when you have it.

How to overcome greed:

Greed cannot be satisfied, but it can be controlled.

Try to put the needs of others above your own.

Be satisfied with what you already have and learn to enjoy and share it!

Train yourself to be generous to others.

Donate to charity where your funds will make a positive difference, give to the needy and homeless or those who are suffering. You will experience greater inner peace and a sense of satisfaction.

Remember it is not money that is an obstruction to our happiness rather it is our greed.

So, by living a balanced life to meet your daily needs, you will experience satisfaction and contentment. You will appreciate and enjoy life more. However, living above your needs and being greedy can never bring peace, inner contentment or happiness.
