Overcoming Life’s Trials Through 4 Pillars Of Spiritual Resilience

How can we overcome adversity? How can we adapt to constant change and uncertainty? Spiritual resilience sustains us during challenging times by relying on internal and external resources. The remedy for life challenges is always available and readily accessible by realizing our innate power to overcome obstacles. We can build spiritual resilience through the four pillars of joyful surrender, true grace, divine love, and a spirit of gratitude.

Joyful surrender

We often feel burdened and powerless over what appears to be insurmountable challenges. Through humility we let go and release unfulfilled longing and distress. It is the final realization that we are more than this human self, and our spiritual connection can lead us forward with decisive steps. When we gladly surrender, there is no rebuttal or negotiation as we confidently move forward. We create space for positive change, take action, and trust the unfoldment of our unique divine plan.  With patience and joyful surrender, we are assured that all is well.

True grace

Live in faith and being hopeful. True grace is the helping hand extended for divine support. We are always cared for and guided by unseen powers. This spontaneous gift may be perceived as unexpected divine favor. The poem, “Footprints in the Sand” by Mary Stevenson, touches the lives of millions. An excerpt from the poem speaks volumes for true grace:

“After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints…I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me. He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you. Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you”.

We are never alone, and grace is the supernatural power of divine influence that is available to everyone at all times. It is not dependent upon your perceived worthiness to receive. It is your divine birthright. Divine grace intercedes and rejuvenates our mind, body and spirit; and enables us to move gently through life.

Divine love

Generosity of spirit is the ever presence of Divine love that surrounds us. There is no problem presented without a spiritual solution that enables us to see beyond our human condition. It may not be what we wished or expected, but know that it is just what is needed at the right time. As you look back on your life, you may realize the valuable lessons, synchronicities of events, and opportunities that were available on your path. As we acknowledge the generosity of spirit within, adopt this admirable and noble ingredient of love. Engage in acts of generosity toward others. Whether it is giving time, attention, and resources, we become more loving and compassionate to others.

Spirit of gratitude

Cultivating gratitude brings joy and happiness into our lives. During a time of great challenge, I was given a vivid dream with a prescriptive declaration of biblical scriptures. Covered with a heavy wet blanket sobbing and lying on the bed, I felt the presence of a force that lifted this blanket from my body with a profound message, “Lift the cloak of heaviness and exchange it for the garment of praise” (Isaiah 61:3 NIV); and “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heaven laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 NIV).

This prescription for life was consoling, comforting, and encouraging. Gratitude became my incessant prayer for thanksgiving that enabled me to break free from intense negative feelings and brought me great joy.  We can connect with the spirit of gratitude through prayer, meditation, music, song, and gratitude lists. There are many ways to express gratitude that is unique for each of us. Fill your day with praise and see your life change.

Conclusion

Spiritual resilience gives us the confidence, strength, and endurance to face obstacles and life-changing events. Make self-care a priority and give yourself well needed emotional breaks. Take advantage of nature walks, quiet time, and journaling as an avenue for emotional release and authentic expression. Be open to support from those who are caring and compassionate. Accept circumstances and realize change as opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. Maintain a positive view of yourself with an increased sense of self-worth.

You can bounce back better and overcome setbacks using the four pillars for spiritual resilience. Always remember how you overcame obstacles and build on these experiences. Triumph and celebrate your infinite reserve of empowering spiritual resilience!
