Saying Goodbye To Our Excuses…

Saying Goodbye To Our Excuses

Stories are one of the most powerful ways in which we communicate our feelings, desires, and expectations. The power of our words carries tremendous force and vitality. It is a life force that enables us to co-create our thoughts and manifest our dreams. Like all energy, stories are shared from one being to another. The more we speak and write our story, the more our reality shifts and changes to match our perspective. That is why we should be mindful of the stories that we tell ourselves, regardless of the circumstances surrounding our choices.

We may find ourselves in situations that are not ideal, and those circumstances may derail our plans or present undesirable options. These circumstances can easily become a Because Story about why we did not achieve our goal (no matter how big or small). A Because Story is a convenient way of expressing the circumstances of why we did not meet internal or external expectations and it justifies our fears, negligence, and irresponsibility. For example: “I did not graduate from college because I was going through a bad breakup with my boyfriend.”

These stories can be an illusion, factual, or a mixture of both. Either way, a Because Story is a powerful deterrent from living the life you want and deserve. Regardless of the Because Story being true or not, we must claim responsibility for our choices and actions. Once we take responsibility and begin to speak or write the truth about our choices, we can then empower ourselves to move forward. For example: “I did not graduate from college, but I am now registered for classes to obtain my degree.” This is a motivational story that does not rely on an excuse, to tell the truth, and sets a positive intention or goal.

Saying goodbye to our excuses and comfortable stories is not an easy process, but it is a liberating process that creates growth and self-empowerment that will sustain us.
