November Diwali New Moon | Light Up The Darkness | Vedic Astrology

The new moon of Nov 14 (9:07 pm PT) shines a light of hope in the darkness of uncertainty. It’s the new moon of Diwali, a time to celebrate the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

Diwali is a 5-day festival that celebrates light, life, and abundance. This a time for cleaning, decorating the home, and lighting lamps (called diyas) to call in prosperity and blessings for the year to come. Use this new moon to set intentions for increased health, wealth, and happiness in your life, and the lives of the people you love.

The new moon will be in the area of the sky called Vishaka, the “star of purpose.” Vishaka is a fierce star of willpower, that magnifies the flame of spirit.   Since ancient times, the rites of fire have been used to burn through blockages, sharpen concentration, and open the mind to new levels of insight.

Diwali New moon symbolizes the fire of light and truth that illuminates the worlds and maintains order – dharma. The victory of light over darkness is celebrated on this new moon as Lord Ram’s triumph over the terrible demon Ravana, and the return to his rightful throne, as well as goddess Kali’s defeat of the demon Bakasura.

Action orientated Mars stations direct on the 13th of November, giving a push forward on delayed actions and clarifying issues that may have been confusing for months.

Take heed, expansive Jupiter enters sidereal Capricorn on Nov 19, and with it a new wave of transformation is mounting politically. This alignment is also likely to amplify austerities and constrictions, especially surrounding the pandemic.

A rare Jupiter and Saturn conjunction (Great Conjunction) is signaling reconstruction, recession, and more governmental shakeups to come. This is also a powerful opportunity for overcoming personal fears, taking responsibility and stepping into a sense of empowerment in your life.

In uncertain times, the influence of light grows, just as candlelight seems to brighten when the lights go out. The new moon of Diwali glows with an inner light of hope, determination, and gratitude. Light a candle tonight and offer a prayer into its flame.
