Monday Mantra: Gratitude

I believe in making the world a better place–in caring, nourishing, and loving humanity. I believe in philanthropy–in paying it forward, and being the change that I wish to see in the world. I believe that small acts of kindness make a difference.

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness” -Dalai Lama.

“As we arise each morning, let us determine to respond with more love and kindness to whatever might come our way” -Thomas S. Monson. There is no better exercise for the heart than to reach down, and lift another up.

Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. “Follow the three R’s: Respect for self, Respect for others, and Responsibility for all your actions” -Dalai Lama.

Be a reflection of what you would like to receive–if you want love, give love. If you want affirmation, give affirmation. If you want respect, give respect. If you want to be heard, give your ear and listen.

Be cognizant of how your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions directly affect your wellbeing– your thoughts are powerful. Change your thoughts, and you will change your world….a bad attitude is like a flat tire, you can’t go anywhere until you change it. The words you speak become the house that you live in – It is not usually our ideas that make us optimistic or pessimistic, but it is our optimism or pessimism that makes our ideas. Being negative only makes a difficult journey more difficult. You may have been given a cactus, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit on it.

Attitude is everything. When looking at a dandelion–some see a weed, where others see a wish. Choose to see the beauty. Choose gratitude. Choose to begin each day with a grateful heart. Choose to engage in good practices–your habits become your life. “How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives” -Annie Dillard.

Live with intent. Be the type of person you would like to meet. “Be somebody who makes EVERYONE feel like a somebody” –Karma.

As you go about your day, your life, seek out ways to respond with kindness–to inject love into the world around you. Smiles are free, but they mean a whole lot. “Conscious effort to live in kindness and truth is rewarded by life reflecting the same kindness back to you, often in ways more beautiful than you can yet imagine” -Dr. Wayne Dyer.
