Live The Life You Want And Deserve
Maybe you’re just starting out in life, fresh out of college, or maybe you’ve just gone through a life-changing event. There are many things in life that might make you wonder if you are really living life like you want to, the life that you deserve.
So, What Kind of Life Do You Want?
Sometimes just figuring out exactly what kind of life you want is quite the task! It can require a lot of thought and introspection and even some trial and error. If you need some guidance, there is no shortage of self-help books, and there are always therapists and life coaches who specialize in helping people to discover more about themselves and what they want their future to look like. And if none of those ideas sound appealing, sometimes just talking with a good friend can help to point you in the right direction.
Realize That You Do, Indeed, Deserve the Life You Want
You are probably thinking, “Of course I deserve the life I want. What a ridiculous concept!” But if you don’t truly believe you should have the life you deserve, this way of thinking can be a self-imposed barrier.
Money, obligations, and a variety of other things can stand in your way, but sometimes there is also something more. Do you feel guilty veering away from a career you’ve put years into, even though it doesn’t make you happy anymore? Deep down, do you feel like you don’t deserve to live out your dream and really be satisfied?
It is just one more thing to think about as you decide what you want and how to get there.
Once you figure out what you want, unfortunately, then the really hard work begins! There are many tools and tips available for how best to set and achieve goals, but for many people the best ideas involve accountability. There are plenty of apps available that will not only help you to figure out your goals and stay accountable and on track, but will also help you to celebrate when a goal has been met (which is a very important part of goal setting!).
Recognize That Things Don’t Change Overnight
If you’re like the majority of people, patience is not your strong suit! Part of getting the life you want means working, step-by-step, on goals, and achieving them can take some time. However, learning patience is just part of the goal-attaining process and an important lesson in itself. It is important to remind yourself that getting what you want doesn’t just happen as soon as you decide you want it.
Be Grateful for What You Have
While you are working on figuring out (and then getting) what you want, take the time to appreciate what you have. Even taking 5 minutes at the start of your day to appreciate your health, your family, friends, and pets, and having a roof over your head and food in your pantry can change your whole perspective. Even appreciating that extra delicious cup of coffee can put you in a better mood, which definitely contributes to living a better life.
Surround Yourself With Things You Love
OK, so maybe at this point in time you can’t afford that beach house or that trip to Italy. But you can still create an environment that is comfortable (and comforting) and pleasant—a refuge from the world – and that can make a big difference.
This can be as simple as hanging up your favorite photos, having your favorite Young Living Essential oils scent wafting through the air, or buying that lamp you’ve had your eye on for a while. Again, it comes down to appreciating the little things!
At some point, everyone realizes how short life really is, and then, perhaps, they realize that they aren’t living the life they want and deserve. Don’t wait around for the “big” life events — make the most of every day and work hard to figure out what it will take for you to live the life you know you deserve.
