How Cause And Effect Play Out In Your Life
Over the past weekend, I have had such an a-ha moment about how the circumstances we experience are the effect of what we have created by our thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. I am talking about cause-effect – that every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. If what we experience is the effect, then that is caused by our thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. This is context-dependent and the concept applies to every area of your life – business, relationships, health and wealth. It speaks to the effect of prosperity in your business or the lack of prosperity in your business. It speaks to the love you experience in your relationships or the opposite thereof.
In other words, it demonstrates the extent that you experience what you desire in your business and life. Even though we may consciously say affirmations about what we want to believe, it is the subconscious self-talk and the associated energy that have the last say.
Change the Cause
To change the effect is to change the cause. If the cause is what you believe, then it means to change the beliefs that produce the effect.
Beliefs are thoughts we have confirmed as the truth and to change a belief is to create doubt about its validity and better yet, if we have evidence that can prove it. Beliefs are things that you are certain of and whatever you are certain of, you, your subconscious mind, will find a way to support and confirm that. The most effective way to change a belief is to create a new experience of what you want in your mind and by doing it over and over again, wins over your subconscious mind to become used to the idea and accept it as your new normal. You can do this because your brain does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined.
The new normal is accelerated when you act from this new imagined experience because it then creates evidence first hand that you can build on.
Power of Your Words
I love what my mentor Elizabeth Purvis says, “Abracadabra, means we create as we speak”. Your nervous system is sensitive to words. In fact, every word has an emotional charge. Some, more than others. This emotional charge depends on what meanings you associate with the words you hear and use. What you say portray your beliefs, especially when you answer questions. Just listen to you yourself. I call my husband on this and then he immediately says the opposite or, “You know what I mean”. The thing is I may correctly interpret what he means, but his subconscious mind takes it as he says it. What he says, is what he is certain of and his subconscious mind will find a way to prove him right. So, say what you mean and mean what you say.
What You Resist, Persists
This significance of the statement “What you resist, persists” really became clear recently. I first heard it said a lot by EFT teacher Brad Yates. What he said was that the extent to what you don’t have what you desire in your life is the extent to what you resist it. Then I thought, but how? Here I am tapping away and consciously repeating positive statements after him, then how on earth am I resisting? The proof was in the evidence or rather the lack showing up instead of what I wanted to create.
I did not become conscious of the fact that I was resisting what I desired until I did some exercise of asking why I wanted to create a prosperous business and my answer was, “to completely overcome lack consciousness”. Then I realized that I was resisting abundance by subconsciously focusing on lack, that which I wanted to move away from. When we focus on what we don’t want, we get exactly that, because the mind does not process “not”, it only brings you more of what you energize.
The Power to Choose
That is when I decided to take on my subconscious mind and eradicate language of lack from my thoughts and words. I decided that I would only energize what I desire and consciously and deliberately create new experiences of what I wish to create in my life. I became my own observer and what I focused on was how I felt. The moment I felt any flickering of an un-resourceful emotion, I immediately checked my thoughts and then consciously redirected my focus by choosing thoughts and images that would move me towards feeling good.
This is the greatest power we have received from the Creator. The power of choice. The power to choose our thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. With this power comes great responsibility and it is in taking on the responsibility, that we claim the power to control and direct our mind to create what we desire. Now of course, as we create what we desire, then we have new desires and next levels of experiences that we want to manifest. A sure way to continue inspiring yourself to create more life is to remember what you have accomplished already, acknowledge yourself and give thanks to the Universe.
Look how far you have come instead of how far you have to go. That will keep your energy in gratitude and faith and will prevent you from focusing on lack. The ultimate goal is the pure satisfaction of creating what you desire; of creating the effect you want. That feeling of harmony with the Divine, your partner in creating more life for you and others, is priceless. It is something you want to do again and again and again.
