In recent years, dating has become way more challenging for people. Do you know why I’m calling it a challenge? There should be no doubt that personality compatibility lays the foundation of any relationship. Your personality is a significant contributor to sustaining your relationship. Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, open to new things or avoid them, conscientious or neurotic, you need to realize you’re unique in your personality. Every personality deserves a partner who can understand their emotional and psychological needs. Personality cannot be judged quickly; you’ve got to spend time and speak with that person like it’s a personality test.
The more you know about your partner’s strengths, weaknesses, values, priorities, and responsive nature, you construct your mindset in a way that either encourages you to stay or leave.

How to Date According To Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type
There is ongoing research attempting to figure out what brings two people close together. Personalities have the very first and most significant impact on relationship satisfaction. It is the personality type that makes a person different from another.
After realizing Jung’s theory of psychological types, Myers and Briggs transformed the theory into practice. This theory was the concept, and Myer and Briggs began to develop those indicators which could help people understand personality differences. Finally, in the 1940s, their pen and paper inventory was out. Over decades, the instrument was introduced.
Different Types of Personalities
In this research, they described the personality types in four letters like ESTJ or INFP. Each letter has a significant meaning that you must know before moving ahead:-
Extrovert (E)- Introvert (I)
This dichotomy is about how a person gets himself energized. Extraverts keep themselves active in a busy environment, while introverts love to spend quiet time with themselves.
Sensing (S) – Intuition (N)
This dichotomy is about how a person perceives a thing. Either a person believes by discovering, seeing, and feeling themselves, called sensing, or exercises their own imaginations and the information they get.
Thinking (T) – Feeling (F)
This dichotomy is about how the person makes decisions. Some people think with their brains and make decisions. But some people are bound by their hearts and ultimately decide on their feelings.
Judging (J) – Perceiving (P)
This dichotomy is about how a person is standing in the outer world. The person who makes it out with judging appreciates structure and order and likes planning. Perceiving people are flexible and adjustable.
Types of Personalities
There are many complex ways to identify your personality, but the Myers and Briggs method is one of the easiest. People were believed to have one of the sixteen personality types that involve:-
Analyst personality types
Architect (INTJ)
They are cautious, gentle, and do everything in a balanced way. They may not open up easily, but when they do, they genuinely seem to develop a better and deeper connection.
Logicians (INTP)
They may sound complex, but their needs are quite simple to understand. They like their partner to be fully committed and encourage them to grow consistently.
Commanders (ENTJ)
They are more toward their objectives. You can observe an approachable level of energy in them, but they face little trouble expressing their feelings to someone.
Debaters (ENTP)
When they develop feelings, initially, they may not realize it, but when they do, they already fall.
Diplomat personality types
Advocates (INFJ)
They are very thoughtful of whatever they are doing. They possess warm behavioral traits and do everything with sincerity. They may develop a rewarding relationship.
Mediators (INFP)
Mediators are highly passionate. They love a person wholeheartedly with genuine intentions. They make meaningful bonds, but they tend to hide their feelings and hopes.
Protagonist (ENFJ)
They are loving, loyal, but sensitive. They want to let their feelings be known to their loved ones. They prioritize romantic connection effusively.
Campaigners (ENFP)
They are very welcoming and hospitable. Also, they put great effort into making the bonds even stronger.
Sentinel personalities types
Logisticians (ISTJ)
They are reserved and practical. They like having a stable and long persisting relationship.
Defenders (ISFJ)
They appreciate their love to grow with time. They are very patient with their loved ones.
Executives (ESTJ)
They consider love as life progress. They express potential interest and tend to keep things simple and sorted.
Consuls (ESFJ)
They have harmony between their brains and heart, which can be reflected in their romantic relationship.
Explorer personality types
Virtuosos (ISTP)
They are free-minded people and respect their way towards getting into a relationship and sharing their world.
Adventurer (ISFP)
They are flexible and live at ease. They may be artistic as well.
Entrepreneur (ESTP)
They are spontaneous and sometimes dramatic. They ensure a deeper focus on relationship life.
Entertainers (ESFP)
They are outgoing and ensure everything goes smoothly.
Dating Tips for Each Personality Type
I would say that the Myer Briggs type indicator (MBTI) system, which we discussed above, is beneficial to starting a new journey toward a romantic relationship. But still, homework is necessary. Before you take any step further, you must read the following dating tips for each personality:-
- This is the very first step to finding your dichotomy. Think about whether you are an introvert or extrovert and how you collect information, make decisions, and connect to the outer world.
- Then you can determine your personality acronym with the letters which have meanings. These are introvert I, extrovert E, sensing S, intuitive N, thinking T, feeling F, judging J, and perceiving P.
- You should go for an online test. MBTI tests are free, and you’ll be asked simple questions. Further, you should go for an official test.
- You should have a thorough look up at your type profile. Use the result in your daily life.
- Encourage the person you want to date to determine their personality type. But avoid stereotyping.
There could be much more diversity in one’s personality beyond the sixteen combinations. No combinations are perfect, but each one is valuable.
Conclusion
Romantic dating is a central concern for couples, but how to date smartly. Dating and a relationship with an incompatible person seem to be the same as you let yourself drown in an ocean of doubts and insecurities. Perfection does not come with how beautiful a person you’re dating; perfection is strongly interlinked with understanding the other person.
