COVID-19: The Teacher I Never Expected…

COVID-19: The Teacher I Never Expected

We have all had some pretty intense life-lessons in the past couple of months. Mother Nature has dealt us some big challenges that have disrupted pretty much every part of our “normal” lives. While this Pandemic has been filled with suffering and struggle, like all challenges, it is also a wonderful opportunity for growth. The word growth can be scary sometimes, BUT it is also a place where some pretty magical things can happen.

It sometimes takes BIG things to wake us up. Here are the top 3 things I’ve learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gratitude

This seems kind of odd with everything that is happening in our world right now, but nonetheless, it is there and stronger than ever. It’s interesting how big events can awaken you to what is most important. For me, I am reminded of my enormous love for my family, my friends, my community, and our world. I have such gratitude for the little things like landing the time slot for grocery delivery, taking a walk outside, hearing birds chirping, connecting with friends.

Most of these things have always been precious to me, but I am more aware of it now than ever before. I am so thankful for all of the healthcare workers and scientists working to help our world. I know that when we are blessed with the ability to physically come together again as families, friends, and communities, there will be a whole new level of joy and gratitude. I can’t wait.

Clarity

Do you have more time on your hands these days? No morning commute, no after school practices, no evening get-togethers… This pandemic has opened up some time and space, so what are you going to do with it? I am using this time for reflection to reevaluate my priorities, my life, and my path. For me a lot of this clarity comes from time spent in meditation, being in nature, writing, or having a great workout. Through these practices, I have been able to gain inspiration for my business and also reconnect to something greater than myself.

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we forget some of these really important things. This is a great time to ask yourself some important questions and rediscover who you are and who you want to be. The sky is the limit.

Courage

If not now, when? So, there is a pandemic going on. This is a big wake up call and it definitely has the power to put your old pre-pandemic fears into perspective. For me, this has pushed me to put myself out there and really go after my vision for my life and my business, Live Greatly. I probably would have had some what if thoughts about writing this article 3 months ago. What if no one likes it? What if it gets rejected? With everything that has happened, it has allowed me to let go of some of those fears and while there still might be some there…I’m going for it anyway!

Are there things in your life that you have been wanting to do or say but have been too afraid to go for it? Now is the time to break free of those fears and own your power! Tell the person you love how you feel, let those in your life know that you care, take a step towards achieving your goals. You are capable and worthy of achieving your dreams but you need to believe it. Have the courage to become who you are really meant to be. The world needs you.
