Boost Your Self-Esteem With These 6 Simple Tips

1) Take good care of yourself

Our minds and bodies are closely connected, and one of the best ways to fix a problem in one is to look at the other. Exercise and healthy food can improve the look of your skin, your hair, your teeth, and pretty much every other part of your body too. It’s a lot easier to feel good about yourself when you can take a look in the mirror and like what you see. Even if it’s just going for a jog every day or two, starting a new exercise regimen is a great way to pick yourself up.

2) Live in the now

Regret is one of the most dangerous things for self-esteem, and it’s way too easy to get caught up in the past and forget about the present. Often we can find ourselves wrapped up in our past failures, going over and over every single mistake that we’ve ever made and letting them keep us down. The best way to fight that is to make an effort to always live in the moment as much as possible. Keep in mind that your mistakes are in the past, and there’s nothing that you can do now to change what’s already happened. The only thing you can do is live in the present, and make the best decisions right now that you can. Remember that every day is a clean slate and an opportunity for you to do what’s best for you and your life.

3) Be kind to yourself

In a similar vein to the last point, another common pitfall is getting so caught up in everything that you’ve ever done wrong that you forget to think about everything that you’ve done right! People are complicated, and there’s not a single human being in the world who makes the right call every single time. It’s important not to get too worried about our flaws and missteps, especially if that makes us lose track of everything that’s great about us. Try to keep in mind that we’re often our own worst critics and that other people tend not to remember all the little mistakes that you’re worried about. Instead, try to think about everything you’ve done well lately, all your positive traits, and how far you’ve already come in your life.



4) Meditate

Meditation is one of the best tools in your toolbox when it comes to dealing with stress and low self-esteem. There are plenty of different ways to meditate, but the core of it is just learning to relax, freeing your mind, and letting go of whatever’s bothering you. Try meditating once per day, and see how your troubles just float away. By the end, you’ll see that the things keeping you down and damaging your self-esteem aren’t even that big of a deal, and you can free yourself from it. Even if you don’t have the time to properly meditate, try just taking a few moments every day to calm your mind and relax. It’ll do you a world of good.

5) Set goals for yourself

One of the most dangerous feelings for your self-esteem is stagnation. It’s easy to feel depressed or down on yourself when you’re stuck in a rut, and that only makes it harder to get out. To fight this, try setting goals for yourself every day. They don’t have to be major goals, especially not when you’re first getting started. 6) Get some help!

Don’t be afraid to lean on your friends, family, or even a teacher if you’re having trouble. When you can’t come up with anything nice to say about yourself, ask someone else to do it for you. Their perspective will help you realize things aren’t as bad as you fear.
