I’m Marcella Friel, And This Is My Dharma…

I’m Marcella Friel, And This Is My Dharma

I’m a natural foods chef, a longtime student and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, and a wild mountain yogini living and loving in the magical Sange de Cristo Mountains of Southern Colorado.

Personal or Professional Goals:

I seek daily to recognize myself as an emanation of that which is greater than my own being and to grow my capacity to give and receive love. I believe ~ no, I actually experience ~ that this is the root of all happiness.

What’s Your Offering to the World?

I’m a food and body-image coach who helps health-conscious women love and forgive themselves, their food, and their figure. I use the energy-healing tool of Tapping (also known as EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques), to help my clients release the stressful emotions, early-life traumas, and mistaken core beliefs that cause them to harm themselves with food.

Who/What Inspires You?

Among my heroes and she-roes:

Annemarie Colbin (founder of the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City, where I trained as a professional chef)
Besel van der Kolk (renegade researcher who speaks truth to power about trauma and healing)
Caroline Myss (medical intuitive and contemporary prophet)
Edward Espe Brown (Zen chef who authored “the Tassajara Bread Book” among other works)
Gabor Mate (physician-bodhisattva who speaks brilliantly about addiction and society)
Joseph Campbell (legendary master of world mythology and author of “the Hero’s Journey”)
Michael Pollan (food journalist and thought-leader on sustainable food systems)
Vandana Shiva (seed sovereignty activist and truly one of the most amazing women on the planet)

I also am inspired deeply by the many spiritual teachers who left everything they knew in their homeland of Tibet and established the Buddhist teachings in the west. They are, quite possibly, the most resilient people the world has ever known.

Where I once believed that I was condemned to the traumas of my early life, I now bless and thank them for the ever-present reminder they offer to love myself unconditionally while being of the highest service to others.

I know, deep in the core of my being, that healing is possible. I experience it in my own life and have the deep privilege of witnessing it in my clients.
