4 Steps To Living And Loving Wholeheartedly…

4 Steps To Living And Loving Wholeheartedly

“If anything is worth doing, do it with all your heart. One moment can change a day, one day can change a life, and one life can change the world” -Buddha

What does it feel like to live and love wholeheartedly? When we experience healthy and wholehearted connections with ourselves and others, we feel a sense of value and worth.  Our authentic, positive, and effective presence is comforting and leaves both the receiver and the giver feeling intact and whole. Mother Teresa quotes, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier”. When we live and love with our whole hearts, we become more aware of ourselves in the context of relationships with our family, community, and the world around us. Embrace the fullness of life. Open yourself to new experiences, love unconditionally, and marvel at the mysteries and wonders of life. Live and love wholeheartedly by being curious, courageous, creative, and unselfish.

Be curious

We all have an innate sense of curiosity. This curiosity leads us into unknown territories with new discoveries. Life is full of mysteries to be explored and problems to be solved. Curiosity can expand empathy and strengthen relationships. When we are curious, we keep our minds active by asking questions and seeking answers, brainstorming ideas, and becoming astute observers. As we investigate and acquire new knowledge, we make choices aligned with our curiosity that provide opportunities for self-discovery. The genuine interest and motivation in learning something new heightens awareness with a more positive outlook on life.

Be courageous

There is a connection between curiosity and courage.  Courage enables us to face our fears, learn more about ourselves, and engage with what is new and different. Fear can be debilitating and prevent us from taking advantage of opportunities. Reflect on what really matters. When we do what we love, it uplifts our mood, relieves stress, and inspires productivity. Acknowledge your strengths, believe, and trust yourself. Reframe negative self-talk and follow your instincts. When we acknowledge and confront our fears, we build confidence and resilience. If necessary, seek guidance from a mentor to express your fears, examine risks and benefits, and explore possibilities for action. Stepping beyond our comfort zone, we view life from a broader perspective. The outcome is becoming a more informed and well-rounded individual.

Be creative

Creativity is a channel for new discoveries and connection to others. As we explore new ideas, we gain knowledge about ourselves and the world around us. It refreshes our soul and outlook on life.  Creativity can be a solitary experience or present opportunities to engage with others and feel a sense of belonging. As we inwardly grow and expand, we have a thirst for learning and self-exploration. This eliminates boredom and increases our capacity for intellectual stimulation.  Be an active learner, take advantage of opportunities that support personal growth, and cultivate lifelong learning.  Seek knowledge and enjoy the experience of learning and practicing new things. Explore resources to foster creativity, learn something new every day, and be optimistic.

Be unselfish

When we are unselfish, it benefits others and enriches our lives. Unselfishness is an ingredient of love that opens the door to caring, compassion, and giving without expectation.  Henry Drummond quotes, “The only greatness is unselfish love”. True love looks for nothing in return.  Whether coming to the aid of someone in need, listening attentively, or putting the concerns of others before our own ambitions, it gives us a warm feeling of happiness and satisfaction.  Swami Vivekananda states, “The great secret of true success, of true happiness is this: The man or woman who asks for no return, the perfectly unselfish person, is the most successful”.  Volunteering is selfless service for worthwhile causes that wholeheartedly connects us to our community. It gives us a sense of purpose and provides opportunities to use our skills and learn new things.

Conclusion

Life is a magnificent adventure and love is the most powerful force.  Live and love naturally and spontaneously with your whole heart. Curiosity, courage, and creativity awakens us to the enthusiasm of life. We become less fearful, more open, and nonjudgmental. Never lose your childlike sense of wonder.  As quoted by Socrates, “Wisdom begins with wonder”.  Continue to learn and grow and embrace the fullness of life.  As we wholeheartedly connect with ourselves and others, we ameliorate the maladies of isolation and alienation and contribute to the well-being of humanity.
