Emotional intelligence, technology, and content coach

After half a decade in technology consulting and loving it, I looked up and ahead at my leadership and realized, wait, I am not excited about where this is going. But in that, I was panicking and hit a quarter-life crisis. I thought to myself, what am I to do after spending all this time, energy, and money into a technology degree and starting such a promising career? Where else do I go?

After talking to my friends, family, coworkers, mentors, coaches, strangers, and my ceiling, I realized that what I was missing was my sense of creativity and control. Rather than being tossed around by a big corporation to make money for other big corporations, I wanted to help people, on a deeper, more emotional level, while engaging my sense of creativity doing it.

I’ve always been curious about psychology and personal development, but hid that passion away because it had a stigma on it, being Asian American and a man, and didn’t seem as lucrative or prestigious of a career as the hard sciences. But only after did I realize, those were all perceptions by other people. It wasn’t what I believed.

Fast forward, I discovered Emotional Intelligence, and everything about it clicked so much for me. This was what was missing, not only in my life, but in so many of our social issues today! Understanding my own emotions has helped me build assertiveness to say ‘no,’ set boundaries and not fall victim to ‘people-pleasing.’ It’s motivated me to pursue my creative hobbies again, like writing, podcasting, and video production. And it’s helped me become mindful of how I engage with the world around me so I can lead a life with intention.

Seeing the importance of emotional intelligence and creative expression, I’m dedicating myself full-time into helping others discover it for themselves so that they can come alive as well. I help high-achievers learn to connect with their emotions, as well as those of others, and to use that power to express themselves through their own creative pursuits.
