Do you feel abandoned by your friends, partner, or family? Do you feel like the foundation of your life is shaky, and it makes you feel anxious or nervous all the time? This is an indication that your root chakra is out of alignment. A strong root chakra is secure and strong, no matter what’s going on in life…no matter how hard. Sure, we all get shaken from time to time, but someone who has developed deep inner strength has found what yogis say is the ability to “Remain unshaken amidst the crash of breaking worlds.” So how do we develop this power?
We must practice. Spiritual traditions of all kinds strengthen our resolve and teach us that our real happiness comes not from the world, but the Divine. But there are other, less obvious things you can do too.

Strengthening the Root Chakra with Food
All the food we consume matters because it holds a vibration that has an influence on the energy centers within our physical and emotional bodies. The root chakra is strengthened with tribal connections. Enjoying a relaxing meal with friends or family can have a profound effect on your healing. Also, having gratitude before and during the meal is a useful way to make each day about your journey of health and vitality.
What to eat: Always choose organic!
1. Protein
2. Minerals
3. Red Colored Fruits and Vegetables
4. Root Vegetables
Protein has a grounding effect and strengthens the physical body: Lentils, tofu, black beans, quinoa, amaranth, soy milk, green peas, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, tempeh, hemp milk, edamame, spinach, black-eyed peas, broccoli, almonds, spirulina, tahini, chickpeas, and peanut butter are all excellent sources of vegan proteins. The root chakra’s element is Earth, so therefore a mineral-rich diet creates stability — hence a plant-based diet is recommended.
Red Colored Fruits and Vegetables help the root chakra in many wonderful ways. The root chakra is red, and interestingly, eating red can help regulate the root chakra. Most red fruits and vegetables are a good source of Vitamin C. The root chakra is connected to bone, skin, and the adrenals which all need Vitamin C to thrive. Red apples, strawberries, pomegranates, cherries, tomatoes, red cabbage, beets, and many more are beneficial. Root Vegetables are a vital resource because they are grown in Earth’s soil and contain the grounding and stabilizing energy of Earth. Potatoes, beets, carrots, onion, garlic, and parsnips can have a positive effect on the root chakra.
