Ah, ginger. The beautiful little herb/spice (however you reference it in your life) that I have so lovingly started incorporating into my everyday diet. Granted, I grew up with my mom having a huge supply in stock always, I never knew how powerful something I regarded as so whatever could be. Ginger is packed with a ton of benefits that will make you want to find as many ways to use it on a daily basis.

Ginger in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, Yoga’s sister science of healing based in Indian roots, ginger is regarded as an ally to almost anyone. Its natural heating properties can warm up even the coldest bodies. It is considered a digestive, and surprisingly enough, even acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in our bodies.
There is something to be said when ginger is recommended to be taken when you are sick as well. Ginger is packed with anti-oxidants. Paired with its heating properties, ginger is a great spice or herb to have in your refrigerator or in your spice cabinet when you begin to notice even the slightest itch in your throat or phlegm in your lungs. What’s even better than all of this? Spring is the perfect time to begin upping your ginger intake! As the winter weather starts to melt away into the blooming of spring, ginger will help make the transition smoother by “melting” any winter-like symptoms you may have accumulated through the colder months.
Ginger is amazing. And one of the best parts about it is that it is so easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Try these fun and super easy ways to start infusing your day with the benefits of ginger!
Begin in the Morning
Start your morning with some ginger tea. Take a cup of hot water, and steep about ½ inch of peeled and grated ginger. Add a little honey for sweetness, and enjoy! Drink this tea as soon as you’re ready to start the day. It will help kick start your digestive system with the warm water, and the ginger will also help get your appetite going and digest any food leftover from the previous night’s dinner.
Eat as a Snack
Peel about an inch of fresh ginger and cut it into tiny rounds. Squirt some lime juice and sprinkle some black pepper on top. Eat a bite of this approximately 20-30 minutes before meals. The ginger, combined with the lime juice, and black pepper helps to start your appetite. Along with this, this little appetizer helps with the digestion of your food.
Ginger Before Bed
Put a pinch of dried ginger in a cup of warm milk. Add some cardamom and a touch of sugar to taste. Try this delightful concoction about 45 minutes before bed time to ground you and settle you before your night’s slumber. Ginger is awesome! Have fun thinking of new and creative ways to incorporate this magical little root into your diet.
