Products obtained from the Cannabis plant are pretty popular today. People add them to coffee, facial cosmetic products, and dietary supplements. Today, cannabidiol is commonly used in epilepsy treatment. Some clinics also use it for pain, anxiety, Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and many other conditions.
If you didn’t know, hemp and marijuana are the same plants. There are a lot of different types of cannabis-derived extracts, therefore it’s easy to confuse them.
Let’s review some definitions. Hemp seed oil is derived from the seed of the plant and it’s rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which means it can be a good part of a healthy diet. The hemp oil extract is derived from those parts of the plant which are known to have high levels of cannabidiol. Therefore, hemp oil extract is full of many health-promoting compounds, especially those that positively affect digestive, immune functions, and brain health.

1) It maintains the immune system
Our immune cells have cannabinoid receptors that release endocannabinoids which act as a regulator of immune homeostasis and modulate local inflammatory responses. Understanding the mechanisms of working cannabinoid receptors can help researchers develop therapeutic strategies for chronic inflammatory diseases like arthritis, diabetes, lupus, and many other conditions. Although the body produces endocannabinoids itself, plant cannabinoids also called phytocannabinoids like those in hemp can also interact with and connect to endocannabinoid receptors. This means that hemp oil extract can also be helpful in maintaining the immune system.
2) It relieves joint pain
Inflammatory diseases like arthritis and gout cause swelling, discomfort, and joint pain. Phytocannabinoids can be very helpful in joint pain management. According to the Arthritis Foundation, 79% of respondents reported that they were currently using hemp oil extract for arthritis treatment. In addition, many other animal studies have shown that phytocannabinoids lower levels of cytokines (inflammatory proteins).
3) It can be used for stress management
One 2011 study found that 600mg of the phytocannabinoid CBD used in people with a social anxiety disorder (SAD) 90 minutes before a public speaking test helped relieve the physiological symptoms of stress. Participants had normal blood pressure and heart rate and reported lower levels of anxiety. Actually, a neuroimaging study has shown that people with anxiety had high activity in the brain region associated with mediating stress when they took 400 mg of CBD oil than when they did not.
4) It keeps the digestive system healthy
Enteric glial cells are cells found in the intestines that produce inflammatory cytokines in the gut. These glial cells are essential for surviving an infection. They also provoke chronic gut inflammation which results in severe digestive issues. Hemp oil extract can help manage enteric glial cells and the adverse effects of toxins produced by certain gut bacteria. Some studies have found that hemp oil extract can help relieve the symptoms of different bowel conditions like nausea, diarrhea, and cramping.
5) It improves sleep and fights insomnia
According to the CDC statistics, one in three Americans suffers from a lack of sleep. Sleep deprivation, whether it is due to anxiety, diagnosed sleep disorders, or other disorders, causes more than brain fog and lack of energy, over time it can lead to heart diseases, diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure. Phytocannabinoids can help you combat insomnia. According to a 2019 study, 66% of the adults experienced better quality sleep after one month of CBD supplementation. According to other research, phytocannabinoids don’t have negative effects on sleep cycles and can enhance REM sleep (the most restorative phase of sleep).
