The Healing Benefits Of Orgonite
In the modern world of healing stones, there are many fascinating pieces. But perhaps one of the most fascinating is the Orgonite stone. Created by Dr. Wilhelm Reich (an Austrian psychiatrist) in the 20th century but pioneered and modified by Karl Hans Welz (alive today), Orgonite seems to be getting the attention of nearly anyone it comes in contact with.

A Little Backstory
Long ago, Dr. Reich identified a type of energy which he called ‘orgone’ and discovered it could be manipulated using layers of metal and organic material. He used things like wood and cotton for his organic materials and iron sheets and other metals as the metallic components. His experiments didn’t lead to any definitive products, but they were intriguing nonetheless due to the orgone theory he developed. He called it Orgonite. Dr. Reich experimented with a number of substances but overall found that organic materials attract and hold orgone energy, while non-organic metals simultaneously attract and repel the energy. This became the underlying premise of Organite.
But Welz’s variation brought modern materials into play; namely an organic component, polyester resin. This version of Orgonite is simply a combination of many metal particles suspended in a resin matrix. Because there are many metal particles that refract energy, the energy flow within Orgonite tends to be very dynamic — making it pretty powerful stuff. Welz’s tests came to a 50-50 mix of resin (organic, due to the fact that it is based on petrochemicals), and metal shavings (inorganic) as being the best formula. A quartz crystal is also added to the Orgonite mix because of its piezoelectric properties, which means that it gives off a charge when it is put under pressure (resin shrinks when it is cured, so constant pressure is put on the quartz crystal).
Due to the constant attraction and repelling energy of the elements trapped in the resin, a scrubbing action takes place. Combined with the charge the crystal gives off, it cleanses stagnant energy and transmutes it to a healthy vibration.
Just anything to do with energy healing, the effects of orgonite differ from person to person. Some feel the energy right away (usually as a tingling or clarity-giving sensation), while for others the effects are cumulative. The most commonly reported effects of orgonite are:
- Physical- Orgonite brings better sleep, more energy, stronger immune system, and decreased sensitivity to EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies).
- Emotional- A great way to balance moods.
- Spiritual- Encourages spiritual growth by deepening meditations and removing negative energy in a specific place.
How to Use Orgonite
Orgonite is best used around areas with a lot of electronics, like offices or desks. However, it’s also pretty versatile so you could feasibly use it while meditating or to clear a room of negative energy. As always, try to wear this stone whenever you can! All gemstones are more powerful when worn in close contact with the skin.
