3 Simple Things You Can Do To Feel Radiant Every Day
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, affirms the famous saying. And while its literal veracity could be debatable, it is such a renowned expression that there has to be some truth to it, right? Eating fruits and vegetables is an advice that most of us have heard since we were kids, either from our parents, the doctor or even in TV commercials. That’s why it’s only natural to assume that an apple a day will do us good.
At the very least, if an apple doesn’t guarantee that we will never get sick, it has plenty of health benefits that our body will be grateful for. But besides this old adage, there are many other simple habits that one can easily acquire to have a healthier life and feel radiant every day. These are three tips that won’t take you more than a couple of minutes to do and will energize you throughout the day:

1) A Downward Dog a Day Gets You Started Right Away
Whether you’re into yoga or not, anyone can benefit from a good Downward-Facing Dog. And since these are easy life hacks, you don’t have to go for a full yoga sequence, you can just try this basic pose once in the morning, and embrace the brief yet comforting stretch that comes with it.
A Down Dog is an inversion, which means that the heart is above the head. These asanas have some advantages to activate yourself, “they encourage blood flow and serve to both, energize and calm your body” explains the yoga teacher Lauren Weisman, in an interview with Daily Burn. Additionally, these poses help to oxygenate your brain and body, since they “open up sinuses and allow the flow of mucus if there is any nasal congestion,” she says. Or if you prefer to do the Down Dog later in the day, it also helps as an antidote to bad postures by elongating the spine.
And if you’re ready to expand your practice beyond one pose, the good news is that yoga has been proven to positively affect the happiness of practitioners.
2) One Minute of Meditation a Day Keeps the Stress Away
According to the Oxford Dictionary, to meditate is to focus one’s mind for a period of time. It doesn’t specify how long it needs to be to qualify as meditation. In the end, the aim is to gain mindfulness; so, if you manage to do it for just a few seconds, you’re technically meditating.
A few years ago, a video on Youtube showed more than one million viewers that it was possible to transform our mood with just 60 seconds of meditation. The author, Martin Boroson, called this technique the One-Moment Meditation. The idea behind it is to be able to meditate at any given moment, but to achieve this state of mind, one first has to practice little by little. To do so, just choose any moment you want during your day, set an alarm for one minute, close your eyes, enjoy your breath, empty your mind, and if there is any thought, contemplate it without fighting against it. Once the alarm rings, you will feel noticeably better with an improved attitude even in the midst of the most stressful times. Would you like to start now? See? You don’t have to be seated in lotus flower for hours or spend several days on a meditation retreat to start. Sure, maybe you would gain even more awareness with those methods, but they’re not easy enough to make it on this list of simple things to feel radiant.
3) A Cup of Lemon Water a Day Keeps All Diseases Away
The idea of drinking one cup of water with lemon juice every morning took the internet by storm not too long ago. And there is a good reason for it to become so popular: it’s super easy to make and it brings tremendous benefits to our health.
According to Dr. Axe, lemon water is very useful for our digestion system and it aids an upset stomach to detox. The lemon juice provides our immune system with vitamin C; it boosts our energy and even burns fat to help us shed some weight. And even if all this wasn’t true, the taste is delicious.
And if one morning you wake up, open your fridge and realize that you forgot to buy some lemons for your morning ritual of easy things to feel great, don’t you worry! There is an alternative called the morning water therapy. It’s super easy to do too, you just have to drink 1.5 liters of water before having breakfast and it will purify your body just as well as a cup of water infused with lemon.
So, to sum up, the three new habits you can easily do to help you feel great every single day are: one Downward-Facing Dog; one minute of meditation; and one cup of water with lemon.
