5 Ways To Energetically Detox Your Kitchen And Make Cooking Healthier And Enjoyable

The ancient Greeks introduced the world to the concept of energy and its effects on humans, animals, plants and one’s health. We are all connected spiritually by energy, whether we choose to believe it or not.

The ancient Greeks would preach that ‘we are all one.’ Aristotle said, “Love is the cause of unity of all things.”

The ancient Greeks knew that if the kitchen had good energy and the food they were cooking had good energy and brought “agapi” (unconditional love) into the kitchen, their dishes would be masterpieces and would heal them at the same time.

We are all made of energy, and we therefore require the consumption of energy in the form of food, air and water for sustenance and good health. In tandem we require an environment and thoughts made up of good positive vibrational energy.

The ancient Greeks would strive to “think good thoughts,” live life with agapi and practice affirmations to assist with this process. We can raise our energy vibration and better connect to ourselves, nature and God (or the universe) by eating highly nutritious energetic foods, having a positive environment and eliminating unhealthy thoughts and relationships.

Eating high energy foods helps us reach higher consciousness and better connect with our higher source — God. This is one of the reasons why many ancient philosophers and healers were vegans and vegetarians.

Below are some ways we can energetically detox our kitchen to lift our energy, attain better health and make cooking more enjoyable.

1) Purge your pantry and refrigerator of low vibrational energy foods and add high vibrational food that will fuel your body with nutrients and energy.

Eat an abundance of food with high vibration energy and nutrients such as organic nuts, fruit, vegetables, good oils (e.g. olive oil, coconut oil), spring water, herbal teas, fermented foods, spices and fresh herbs.

Keep to a minimum foods such as meat, poultry, seafood, white flour, bad oils (e.g. canola, vegetable, soy, cottonseed, corn), tap water, sugar and foods that are highly processed, microwaved, chemically altered, genetically altered, contain chemical additives or have been mistreated by a person (e.g. caged eggs and factory farmed animals).

They have little or no good vibrational energy and nutrition to add to your body.

If you are cooking with conventional (non-organic) ingredients wash the ingredients well. Rinse all your fruit and vegetables thoroughly. You do not know who has handled them before you and what their hygiene was like.

I also bless my ingredients and say a little prayer to remove any negative ‘impact imprint’ that may have been left by anyone that has handled the ingredients before me. Wash them in a generous amount of water with some diluted white vinegar. This will remove some of the toxins.

When eating fresh organic fruits and vegetables off the tree the vibrational energy benefit of the food is high and rich in nutrients from the sun. Eating food that has conscious, good vibrational energy also nourishes us spiritually.

If you cannot afford to buy all your produce organic, buy at least the 12 Foods You should buy organic on the Environmental Working Group web-site. It is important to read labels before selecting your food purchases.

When shopping be aware that many food manufacturers also coat the inside of metal cans with a resin made of BPA (bisphenol-A, an endocrine- disrupting chemical), which can leach into foods. Look for cans marked BPA-free by trusted manufacturers or opt for glass jars or frozen foods.


2) Purge toxic plastics and non-stick cook ware, including the microwave.

The introduction of toxic chemicals into our body lowers the energy vibration of our body and spirit. Toxic chemicals such as Perfluorocarbons (PFC’s) are found in non-stick cookware (including toxic Teflon) and food containers.

Our bodies absorb PFC’s through food, our skin and fumes from overheated pans. They’re linked with liver damage, cancer and other health issues.

Opt for cast-iron (including ceramic-coated), glass, ceramic, stoneware or ceramic-coated cookware (make sure ceramic bakeware indicates that the glaze is lead-free). Use silicone, bamboo or stainless-steel cooking utensils and opt for food-grade stainless steel or glass-lined bottles.

While plastic food storage is cheaper the chemicals that make up plastic can easily leach out into the foods we store in them. Chemicals like BPA are linked to everything from weight gain or trouble losing weight to early onset puberty and cancers. Instead, use glass food storage containers.  

Microwaves kill off the life force and living energy of the ingredients. They alter the harmonious balance of the food and when consumed alter our inner balance and make us ill, both physically and emotionally.

I recommend that you ditch the microwave or keep microwaved food to a minimum.


3) Keep your kitchen clean and clean out your cleaning products.

Cleanliness is of utmost importance in the kitchen, especially for our health. When you clean your kitchen you are not only introducing proper hygiene in the kitchen but you are also washing away any old or unfavorable energy.

All sorts of bacteria and toxins may be present that can make us ill and unhappy.

Clean all your surfaces regularly. White vinegar with lemon juice or soapy water with white vinegar does the trick.

Read the labels on your cleaning products. If you do not recognize an ingredient then it’s time to toss it in the bin.  Toss those that contain synthetic fragrances and anything that has the words CAUTION, WARNING, or DANGER.

You can clean an oven’s interior while it is cool with warm, soapy water and scrub away any baked-on grease with a scouring pad and baking soda with white vinegar.


4) De-clutter and reorganize your kitchen.

Your energy and the way you feel will also be affected by the surroundings in your kitchen. To keep a peaceful, uninterrupted flow of energy, a kitchen needs to be organized.

When you commence cooking and are unable to find ingredients this can cause a sudden panic and disrupt the peaceful flow of energy. It disorganizes you and you take on that feeling.

An organized kitchen means you are able to find what you need quickly when it’s time to make a meal. Organize your spice rack in a simple way so you can easily find the right spice for your recipes.

Be thoughtful and loving about how you store your ingredients so they maintain their good energy and nutritional value. For example, store olive oil in a dark cupboard away from any direct light.

This will ensure that it does not go rancid. Respect and look after your ingredients as you would respect and look after yourself.

The removal of clutter is also important. Clutter can add confusion that keeps the mind from thinking clearly to find simple solutions for recipes.

De-clutter your fridge so you are able to find things and so your food remains fresh and your ingredients have the same breathing space that you require in your life.

Nowadays we waste too much good food because we are not organized and simply do not store items appropriately.


5) Clear the old environmental energy.

After taking all the above steps to detox the environmental energy in your kitchen, the final step is to clear the old and perhaps stale energy and to bring in new, positive, and inspirational energy.

You can do this in many ways, and you can choose one that resonates with you. I use Holy water and basil or incense. In ancient Greece chanting and incense was popular and still is today.

Other ways to clear include to burn incense (such as sandalwood, sage smudging stick, or copal), open all windows and curtains to let fresh air and sunlight in (do this daily), spray the area with salt water from a sprayer, and prayer.

Many other rituals from ancient Greece continue to be practiced in Greece today to lift the energy vibration frequency of food before it is consumed.

There are many songs and dances performed during preparation and cooking time, dishes are blessed. Food that is prepared by loving hands adds to the good energy of the dish.

Prepare food slowly, lovingly and peacefully. But, above all, the Greeks show gratitude by giving thanks to God for his guidance and for the wonderful food they are about to enjoy. Gratitude, truth and love have the highest energy vibrations.

Think positive thoughts and pour your own agapi energy into what you are eating, and always enter the kitchen with agapi. Enter your kitchen with peace and happiness and your senses will be open to new and exciting inspiration, dishes and flavors.
