I’m Chantal Houde, And This Is My Dharma

 

Chantal is an Ottawa-based yoga teacher who loves to travel, spend time in nature, and listen to music. I am a passionate whole-foodie and love connecting with people one-on-one. I also enjoy sharing my story and the lessons I’ve learned about life and wellness through writing.


Your Personal or Professional Goals:

I would like to continue to travel the world, teaching yoga and to complete my Yoga Therapy Certification and work with disadvantaged populations, especially those with mental health issues and addictions. Many of my family members struggle or have struggled with mental health problems, and I have seen how much of an impact it can have on their lives and the lives of the people around them and how much yoga can help.

What’s your offering to the world:

I have a passion for empowering people to live with greater authenticity and therefore, more ease and happiness. My focused and internalizing personal yoga practice and teaching reflect this as I aim to connect people with their true selves in a gentle way. I would like everyone to experience more peace in their lives, especially those who experience anxiety, depression or other mental illness or problems with substance use and I offer tools to practices to help lessen stress and tension.

Who/What Inspires You:

Nature and music are my main sources of inspiration. Both get me out of my head and allow me to feel connected with the universe and my source of energy.

To live peacefully so I can bring more peace to those around me and to the world.

This is such a good reminder to live in the present and focus on what you can do today to build a future that you love.


Goals:

I am a cancer survivor. I don’t talk about it much, because I don’t like to identify with it, but it really altered my life for the better. Thanks to the changes I’ve made to my lifestyle since my recovery, I’ve never been healthier and happier! I hope to continue to build on my healthy lifestyle and build a happy family as well.
