I’m Celinne Da Costa, And This Is My Dharma

Back in May I left behind my corporate life in New York City to pursue my dream of traveling the world. I am currently circumnavigating the globe by couch-surfing through my social network, which means everyone who hosts me is connected to me somehow. So far, I’ve been hosted by 60+ people across four continents and 16 countries. In my blog, The Nomad’s Oasis, I write about my experiences staying with people around the world, the lessons I learn about life and travel, and the art of being human.

Your Personal or Professional Goals:

In 2017, I plan to write a book about my experience leaving behind corporate life to travel the world through human connection. I’ll be raising some money to publish through crowdfunding, as well as continuing my travels. I plan on traveling through South America next!

What’s your offering to the world:

The Nomad’s Oasis explores what it means to be human, and how travel beautifies this process by opening a path to self-discovery and transformation. I offer a closer look into cultures from a local’s perspective; philosophical ramblings on what the places we visit can teach us about living a fuller life; a raw narrative of a nomadic soul chasing her dreams and purpose in this world.

Here, you will find a tale of the universal human truths I’ve consistently encountered around the world and how they’ve challenged me to connect with wildly different people, embrace the discomfort of unfamiliarity, and face change without trepidation.

I write to share my journey, to make sense of what I learn, and to immortalize its value and beauty. As I carve out my own path, unruly and winding as it may be, I hope I can lend you some inspiration to help build yours.

Who/What Inspires You:

Everyday people that I meet on the road inspire me more than any public figure could. I’ve learned so much about life from people who I casually stop and chat with while traveling: from the ex-guerilla fighter in Inle Lake, to the sailor in Gili Islands, to the spiritual healer in Bali. Every single person on this planet has wisdom to share, whether they know it or not. I make it my mission to find inspiration in others, and apply it to my own life so that I may also share it through my writing.

To inspire people to get out of their comfort zones and follow their dream with my writing and travels.

My goal in 2017, other than writing a book, is to figure out how to become a fully location independent nomad. I want to be able to work from wherever I want, so that I can continue traveling full-time.
