Decrease Stress in Your Home
With the many chores, tasks, and work that encompass our lives, many of us find ourselves stressed out.
Our minds are cluttered, overworked, and maxed out from the daily grind.
Stress can negatively affect our sleep patterns, mood, weight, skin and digestive health, and it can lead to medical conditions such as heart disease and depression.
The amount of stress in our lives has only seemed to increase in recent years. One way we can help counteract the effects of stress is to create an environment that is peaceful and calming.
Whether it’s your whole house or a designated peaceful area, such as a meditation corner, having a relaxing area can help us find peace amongst the chaos of our hectic lives.
Here are six ways we can bring peaceful energies into our space.

Plants
There have been many studies linking plants to reducing stress.
In addition to stress reduction, some plants are better at increasing oxygen and removing toxins, creating a cleaner environment.
A few good plants that help purify our air and bring us peace are Philodendron, Spider Plant, Snake Plant, English Ivy, Bamboo, and Peace Lily.
Soft Textures
Associated with Yin chi, fabrics offer calming vibrations and are used in Feng Shui to settle/soften energies.
Add natural textures such as cotton, wool, jute, and sea grass to your space through the use of rugs, tapestries, and pillows.
Cool Colors + Earthy Tones
Psychologically, the color blue has been known to help us relax.
It slows down our heart rate and allows us to feel calmer.
These cool colors (purple, blue, green) are associated with Yin energy and our upper chakras.
Earthy tones, such as beiges and warm greys, relay a sense of comfort and security, and can be utilized as well to create a more relaxing atmosphere.
Crystals
Crystals radiate energy of their own. Each crystal has different energetic properties associated with it.
Some stones that provide peaceful energies are Amethyst, Celestite, Rose Quartz, Aquamarine, Jade, Kunzite, and Flourite.
Display large pieces in your space or have a dish of tumbled stones as a center piece.
Tranquil Scents
Having a soothing, pleasant aroma in your space encourages you to take deeper breaths, which allows more oxygen to flow to the brain, producing a calming effect.
Some scents have been linked to relieving stress.
These include Lavender, Lemon, Jasmine, Pine, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Rosemary, and Peppermint. Use as an incense, essential oil, or scented candle.
Mood Lighting
Candles and Himalayan Salt Lamps are wonderful sources of mood lighting.
The warming glow they produce helps us feel more relaxed. Place them throughout your space.
As an added bonus, get scented candles with relaxing scents such as lavender and peppermint.
Himalayan salt lamps add the extra benefit of purifying the air due to ionization, which aids in a clean, peaceful atmosphere.
