Balancing The Eastern And Western Worlds…

Balancing The Eastern And Western Worlds

We have all heard the saying, “It is what it is.” I must say that this phrase upsets me. If something is bothering you, can’t you change it? I have noticed that Eastern religions are concerned with making everything balanced. Karma tells us that what goes around comes around. Therefore, if someone is doing something for you, you should try to do something for them. Western religions like Christianity take a different approach. Jesus said, “Turn the other cheek.” If someone wrongs you, don’t stoop to their level. How do you know which interpretation to take? How do you know when you let things lie, or to try to change them and make them better and equal for everyone? When do we overly give, and when do we say, “Hey! You owe me pal!” Dedicate each moment of your life to finding balance. Let’s say two people are dating, and one person pays for three dinners out at three different restaurants. On the fourth outing, the other person could pay for their meals. However, the second person does not have to repay the first person for every single meal offered. It was an act of generosity, and should be appreciated. However, the karma doesn’t exactly have to be evened out. On the contrary, the second person should not take advantage of their lover by always making him or her pay. It’s a balance. I believe that God wants a balance of the Eastern and Western worlds and we should all strive to achieve that in our lives.
