For so long, I felt like I’ve been asleep, trying to do the “right” things, behaving like everyone else. I didn’t feel comfortable being myself.
Everyone around me, including American mainstream media, stigmatized emotional and mental health. People wanted to stay positive and above the surface level. No one wanted to dive into the depths of our minds, afraid of what we might find.
Well, now I’m awake, learning to better respond to my emotions. And I’m documenting this journey through my writing. It’s time I learn to live with authenticity, not just positivity.
