Full moon energy provides us with support to finish and close off things that are no longer serving us. The Full Moon for October is on the 24th or 25th (depending on where in the world you are!) and we start to feel its energy a few days before and it continues for a few days after, whenever you see that beautiful big glowing ball in the sky – fit to burst! – you are likely to be feeling at least some of the power of the full moon.

Why does the Full Moon Affect Us
A full moon occurs when the Sun is opposite the Moon. This highlights opposing forces or divergences in your life such as your work versus home, or what you need versus what you want. Inner and external pressures put together can lead to personal conflict and even crises, all of which can drain your energy.
The moon has a big influence on our emotional state – we are almost 80% water after all! – and this reaches its peak at the full moon. Your intuition and subconscious awareness may be enhanced allowing a deeper look at all emotional matters in your life, especially relationships. A full moon is connected to the energy of the previous new moon and the following new moon. If you set intentions at the new moon now is the time to finalize them in preparation for the next month.
Taurus Full Moon
The energy of the full moon when it’s in Taurus is slightly different because Taurus likes what’s comfortable and familiar – it is an earth element sign, so it’s all about where we are comfortable and feel supported. Despite being of the earth, Taurus prefers not to dig too deeply beneath the surface! This may mean that it is more difficult to know on the conscious level what you need to let go of this month – we are creatures of habit and even things that do not benefit us can be hard to release when they are a part of our comfort zone.
When we find it difficult to know what we need to release at a full moon it can be very useful to work with universal energy on all levels. Doing something like Yin Yoga allows us to drop any emotional baggage that we are carrying within our physical bodies. A meditation on release and self-love can assist your mind to let go.
Dealing with the Energy of the Full Moon
Energy healing such as Reiki, Seichim, Crystals, Aromatherapy, and Kinesiology works on all levels and even if you don’t know or understand where you need energetic balance in order to be able to let go of what is no longer serving you, the divine healing intelligence of your body will take the Reiki energy wherever it is needed the most. The Earth element – which is key in our first chakra and our spleen and stomach meridians – gives us the ability to stand behind our words and our dreams with purpose and intent, with clarity of thought and with integrity. When the Earth element is out of balance we may find that we worry a lot about things and this, in turn, can negatively affect our ability to digest and transform our thoughts and ideas into actions, including any action required to let go.
Just before the Full Moon, on 23rd October, the Sun moves into Scorpio. Scorpio’s attitude is very black and white! Scorpio knows very well what it is you need to clear away in order to make way for change and growth at the next new moon. This Sun will have a great balancing effect on Taurus’ moon wanting us to hold on to what we have accumulated because it is comfortable. Another big energetic influence this month is that Venus is in retrograde – hiding away until mid-November. Venus governs love and all things heart-centered. With this energy being reversed – inward focused instead of being expressed externally – it is a wonderful opportunity to work on self-love and understanding and accepting yourself more fully.
