America’s youngest female yoga instructor, Natalie Asatryan, gives back at Camp Helping Hands
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – America’s youngest certified female yoga instructor, 13-year-old Natalie Asatryan, taught yoga to the youth at Camp Helping Hands on Monday, July 30 in Northridge, California. A nonprofit dedicated to getting children involved in their community through service-learning projects and field trips, Camp Helping Hands invited Asatryan to be part of the week themed “Serving Ourselves to Serve Others” that was inspired by a quote from Mahatma Ghandi, “The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
Aligning with Camp Helping Hands’ mission of getting children involved with service-learning so they can “make a difference in their community where it is needed most,” Asatryan shared how teaching yoga has enabled her to give back and taught two uplifting, fun yoga classes.
“Teaching yoga at Camp Helping Hands reminded me of when I was 5 years old and took my first yoga class,” said Asatryan. “Teaching the kids enabled me to pay it forward and encourage others to develop a passion for yoga too.”
Asatryan’s yoga classes are donation-based, and all of the donations go to charity. She has raised thousands of dollars and helped make a difference around the world by partnering with charities such as the American Red Cross and the Unstoppable Foundation to support a rural village in Africa.
Through her partnership with the Unstoppable Foundation (http://www.myunstoppablechallenge.org/stellaandnatalie), Asatryan is helping to build a school in Kenya and enabling children of an entire village to get an education, nutritious food, clean water, sanitation and healthcare.
Additionally, she will be teaching several yoga classes throughout the country in the coming year and is looking forward to contributing more to her community as well as around the world. For more information about Asatryan and her donation-based yoga classes, please go to natalieasatryan.com.
