Acting Is The First Step To Being

Change is simply the result of continually acting like the person you want to be.

Take the person who wants to lose weight. What’s the very first thing they should do to become the new “skinny version” of themselves?

Answer? Ask the all important question: What does a skinny person do everyday?

Well, you might say, a skinny person:

  1. Eats a balanced meal.
  2. Exercises.
  3. Practices self love.

So then what’s the second thing a person who wants to lose weight should do? They should practice doing what the “skinny person” does.

  1. Eat a balanced meal.
  2. Exercise.
  3. Practice self love.

But what happens the morning you get up and don’t feeling like doing what the “skinny person” does? You are now at the crucible of change.

Disciplined participants of change do what’s required of them even when they don’t feel like it.

They have risen above the control of their senses. They are no longer dictated by the appetites of the “flesh,” but exercise their will to carry out the daily disciplines they’ve come to learn that produces the healthy body and self image that they desire.

How do you become like you want?

How do you become lean, healthy, fit, and maintain a positive body and self image? Act like it! Acting is the first step to being.

At first acting like it feels like faking it. Everything in you tells you “that’s not you.” And that’s true. In your current state of being, eating healthy, exercising and engaging in self love are not things you ‘normally’ do.

It’s not who you are. Yet.

But consistent discipline of acting like who you want to be, (modeling the ultimate image of yourself, if you please,) eventually produces the results in you that you desire. And suddenly you “wake up” and are, outwardly, who you’ve always desired to be inwardly.

But never forget this one most important lesson.

You are ALWAYS who you desire to be. Remember: “There, except for me, go I.”

“There, except for me, go I.”

It’s In You

You are really always who you desire to be, you just haven’t showed up yet. You, the you you desire to be, just hasn’t made her way to the surface yet.

The more you act like the person you want to be the more you will be the person you desire to be. Change is simply the result of continually acting like the person you want to be.

Ask yourself. What would your ultimate self do in this situation?

What would the person you so desperately want to be do right now? Whatever that is? Do that! And keep doing it over and over until you wake up and recognize the one in the mirror as the one you’ve always wanted to be.

He’s in there. She’s in there. Just waiting on you to love and honor her enough, to pay him enough attention to come out.

Change is simply the result of continually acting like the person you want to be until you become that person.

Try it out.

Today start acting like the person you want to be would act. Say what they would say. Do what they would do. Even if it feels fake at first, keep acting. Acting is the first step to being.
