A Beautiful Mess

“Oh my darling, it’s true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches too.” -Unknown

It’s all messy.

The hair.

The bed.

The words.

The heart.

-William Leal

But darling there is a raw beauty— a virtuous elegance, in our scars… in our mess.

The scraped knees, the raised voices, the dirty dishes, the gray hairs, the tears in our eyes, the wrinkles in our skin… These are physical embodiments of our fight, our strength, our fortitude, our resilience, our beauty.

You were born with the weakness to fall my dear, which also means you were born with the strength to rise. Even a flower must grow through dirt— Be strong.

Embrace the struggle— the cosmic roadblocks. After all, sometimes we fall because we need to find something down there darling. You are so much stronger than you know.

Embrace the beauty of chaos. Find stillness. Seek the poetic vignettes. See the hero. See the unicorn. In you, and everyone around you.

“You will always be too much of something for someone: too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. (But…) If you round out your edges, you lose your edge… Apologize for mistakes. Apologize for unintentionally hurting someone— profusely. But don’t apologize for being who you are” -Danielle LaPorte. Sing your anthem.

Take great comfort in knowing that your spark of magic is worthwhile darling. That your glowing ember deserves to be loved, supported, and nourished— by you, and your tribe. Surround yourself with those who fan your flame— encouraging you to grow, to reach, to stretch.

My soul recognizes your soul, I honor the light, love, beauty, truth, and kindness within you.
