You know you need to live an active lifestyle, but just because you know it doesn’t mean it comes easily. Between a long workday, a crammed family schedule and a to-do list a mile long, finding the energy to be more active can seem like an impossible task. If you follow a few tricks to boost your energy, you can become a more active person in no time. Here are five tips to get you moving.
Take Supplements or Caffeine
There are many natural supplements available to help you live a more active lifestyle. Many of these you can pick up at your local health food store. Ashwagandha, vitamin B12, creatine and iron are all very helpful in giving just the right boost to get your body into gear.
More familiar forms of energy come in a cup. A mug of coffee or tea is a traditional method to wake up the body and get it moving. Make sure you use the caffeine to your advantage, though. If you take too much, your energy will crash, leaving you with the reverse effect.
Another supplement available is the thrive patch. This breakthrough supplement is delivered to your body through the skin by a patch that you put on in the morning and again in the afternoon. The boost of energy from this careful mix of vitamins and minerals couldn’t be easier and the thrive side effects will help you reach the activity level you desire.
Get More Sleep
It seems counterintuitive to recommend more sleep to increase your activity level, but most adults do not get the recommended amount of sleep. Demands from work and life leave many people running on fumes. The average adult needs seven or more hours of sleep every night. If you aren’t getting at least that, a change in habit could change your life. Try going to bed a half an hour earlier every night and see if you don’t have enough pep in your step to be more active the next day.
Food
Food is fuel, and your body relies on what you put into it in order to give it the energy it needs to be active in the day. If you constantly find yourself snacking on empty carbs and foods full of sugar, this could be zapping your body. Put the food into your body that will generate the energy you need to be active. A balanced diet of fruits and vegetables, lean protein and complex carbohydrates will fuel you to a more active lifestyle.
Exercise
Living an active life is a habit. Sir Isaac Newton’s law of motion states that objects in motion stay in motion, and that is true of your body as well. Your body craves activity. It needs it to perform at its optimum level. Make a goal to exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes. You will soon find that your body becomes accustomed to this habit and will ask you for more. Conversely, if you spend most of your time in sedentary activity, you will find it harder to get up and move.
Limit Screen Time
Screens are everywhere. Phones, tablets, televisions and computers rule the world. These screens are forever demanding your attention, and it is hard not to give it to them. The average adult spends 10.5 hours a day in front of a screen. This time in front of a device is usually sedentary time. The recommended amount of screen time for an adult is two hours a day. If you feel you are lacking time to get out and move, cutting out just a couple of hours a day in front of a screen will give you the time you need to get moving.
An active lifestyle is within your reach. Take a minute to evaluate your daily habits, then implement some of these tips and you’ll be living the lifestyle you desire before you know it.
