5/30 NEW MOON in Rohini | A New Start | Vedic Astrology

The new moon on May 30 (4:30 a.m. PT) kicks off a creative and courageous new cycle of possibility. New moons are always a good time to look inward, wrap up loose ends, and prepare for a new phase of growth. This new moon contains a unique spark of creative vision within it.

According to Vedic Astrology, the new moon is in Rohini Nakshatra, a star that represents the red-eye of Taurus the bull. It’s said that Rohini is the moon’s favorite astral residence, and that under its influence themes of fertility, love and creativity come into focus.

Take heed, Mars and Jupiter are now closely aligned in a battle of wills. Jupiter and Mars give zeal, courage and enthusiasm for positive actions; however, they are currently in a rare and dangerous alignment called planetary war (graha yuddha.)

Issues around education, violence and self-defense – all Jupiter and Mars themes – have been ignited, and the tragic Texas elementary school shooting occurred as the moon transited these two fierce planets on May 24.

Make the most of this new moon by reclaiming self-confidence and envisioning a better, bolder, and more proactive positivity in your world. Stay focused on what you can do to make a difference on issues you care about.

With Mercury Retrograde in Taurus, themes of security, financial institutions, and agriculture are also surfacing to be improved upon. Mercury Retrograde is a good time to reorganize contracts, commitments, and creative projects.  Review your investments and have a deeper look at how (and with whom) you spend your time and energy now. Mercury retrograde will end on June 3.

On May 29, a sacred day in honor of the planet Saturn falls just before the new moon.  Shani Amavasya, is a special night of Saturn that falls at the lunar cycle’s darkest phase.  Saturn is the Lord of Karma, as well as the teacher of life’s most important lessons.  This is an opportunity to shine a healing light into the darkness of fear, grief, and feelings of victimization. Use this time for meditation, prayer, and acts of selfless service.

Learn more about how Saturn influences you while he transits his most powerful sign, Aquarius.
