3 Tips For Sharing Your Energy (Without Giving It Away!) From A Reiki Practitioner

Reiki is the ancient Japanese art of energy healing. Like an energetic massage, it doesn’t require manipulation (or even contact) with the physical body, but can soothe, rejuvenate, and align.

We all have the innate ability to heal, and often, the desire to help, but sometimes while trying to offer help or healing to others, we can loose ourselves—feeling depleted, exhausted, or spread too thin.

Here are three tips to share your healing energy with others, without costing your self:

Be a channel. This embodies the concept of namaste—recognizing and honoring the place of light and love (that is the same!) within us all. Image yourself as a clear channel, letting things flow through you without getting caught or changed. As a channel, you are a stream that things can flow through—rejuvenating gushing waters of positivity and encouragement, as well as flushing out anger, anxiety etc.

Be a mirror. Rather then try to change, reflect the behavior of others. Remind someone the great qualities they have to offer. Often times, people get so used to how they are that they forget, or take for granted, the things that come naturally or they’ve cultivated for so long. Point out when someone is caring, calm, efficient, or whatever positive skill they showcase.

Stay true to you. Most importantly, Be yourself! Setting an example of authenticity—celebrating your strengths, recognizing when you make mistakes, and being honest with ourself and others—inspires others to do the same. You may have no idea specifically when, how, who, or what you did, but we are always having an impact on the world around us.

A Japanese teaching on happiness reminds us that, “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened..”

May you light many candles, while keeping your own flame strong.

Namaste. — Kristina
