7 Yoga Poses To Boost Libido

Yoga is gaining popularity around the world – and the reason is pretty obvious. Yoga is a form of exercise which energizes the body while giving it an intense workout that will tone up your muscles in no time. Yoga has helped men and women find balance within them and allowed them to become more mindful of their place in the world. It can sound a little crazy that a workout routine, or yoga flow, can have such a profound effect on people, and if you have never practiced it before then I can understand why you may be confused.

But for those of us who have indulged in a yoga session or two, it is evident that it can be that powerful. There are many different types of yoga styles. From hot yoga, which takes place in a hot room and is typically slow moving with long holds, to a Vinyasa flow, which is a more fluid style that is constantly moving through different poses, there is a yoga style for everyone.

Yoga Beyond Fitness

But let’s ignore the toning, weight loss, flexibility, and numerous other health benefits of yoga and let’s delve into its lesser known benefits. Yoga is an incredibly effective workout for improving your sex life. Not only will the flexibility you gain from yoga allow you to explore new and exciting positions with your partner, there are also many yoga poses which are known to improve your libido.

A low libido is common for men and women. One culprit for this is unbalanced hormones, which can be remedied through methods that naturally boost your testosterone levels. Testosterone is the hormone responsible for lifting your libido, so it is important to seek medical advice to find out whether or not your testosterone levels are to blame. Symptoms of low testosterone levels are common and should be checked out by a healthcare professional.

In the meantime, try out these incredible yoga poses to boost your libido the natural way:

Cat/Cow Flow

Begin in a table top position with your knees hip-width apart and your hands shoulder-width apart.  Arch your back as much as you can and then move through your starting position and round your back as much as you can. This movement makes use of the same muscles used to complete a kegel.  Kegels strengthen the female anatomy and strong kegel muscles will mean that you can control your orgasms.  This results in satisfying sex every time.

Bridge Pose

Begin by lying flat on your back with your knees bent and your heels near your buttocks. Lift your hips towards the ceiling and squeeze your glutes. You can either release and complete the movement a few more times or slow it down and hold the squeeze for as long as you can. This pose strengthens the kegel muscles which will render similar results to the cat/cow flow.

Eagle Pose

A little bit trickier than the other two, but its spot in the Kama Sutra is enough to let you know it’s effective.  Begin by standing up straight.  Shift your weight into one foot and lift the other.  Wrap the loose leg around the standing calf as far as you can. Once you’re in this position, extend one arm out in front of you with a 90-degree bend in the elbow and fingers pointing towards the ceiling. Wrap the other arm under the extended arm and twist it around and try touching your hands together. This will have you completely twisted up. Releasing from this bound up pose will cause the blood to rush back into the body, particularly to the cervix. This is guaranteed to awaken the libido.

Downward Dog

Plant your hands flat on the ground and push your weight into your heels and raise your butt into the air. You must remember to try to flatten your back and keep your weight equally distributed between your hands and your feet. Just look at this pose, it has sex written all over it.  This pose is also known for being a full-body toner which will definitely boost your confidence in the bedroom.

Cobra

Begin lying flat on your stomach and bringing your hands to the sides of your body under your shoulders.  Push through the palms of your hands and arch your back to resemble a cobra that’s ready to strike. The cobra pose opens the heart for a mood-boosting effect, which reduces stress levels.  Stress is the number one libido killer and, if you can reduce it, you are guaranteed to have more fun in the bedroom. This also squeezes the adrenal glands for a kick of energy.

Pigeon Pose

Begin in a plank position, arms straight, and then bring the knee of one leg to the same side hand.  Move the foot to sit just under the opposite hip and ensure that your weight is evenly distributed on both sides of the body. This pose is known for relaxing the hips and it relieves any deep tissue tension that may be sitting in the pelvic region.  This will definitely open up the pelvis and get you in the mood.

Wide-legged Straddle

Open your legs as wide as you can while sitting on the floor and then proceed to slide your arms out in front of you and attempt to lie flat. Once again, this pose is an excellent hip opener and will awaken the pelvic area for love-making.  It is important to encourage blood flow to increase libido because it will get the area ready to work.

You can practice these poses individually or create your own yoga flow based around these different poses in order to kick your libido back into action and ensure that your sex life is at its peak throughout your life. It is important to actively practice a healthy sex life and yoga is the perfect stepping stone to many years of love and happiness.  So tone up, lose weight, improve your overall mood, and increase your libido by taking a couple of yoga classes.
