Are you having trouble maintaining a level of happiness that you feel you deserve? Then here are 10 different things you can do to improve your happiness today.
Do a high energy workout
As CNN reports, exercise leads to a release of endorphins, a natural chemical that’s responsible for inducing feelings of euphoria and reducing pain. You don’t have to go to the gym to get that exercise as there are alternatives. Go on an intense bike ride or jog through the woods. There are plenty of ways to get that endorphin release via a high energy workout session.
Improve your posture
Sit up straight and when walking, do so with your back straight and your mood will improve. Our physiology can have an effect on how we feel.
Buy something you like
Have you had your eye on a piece of technology for months, or wanted to buy the latest Nike shoes but were not willing to part ways with the cash? Perhaps do something for yourself and spend the money.
Have that difficult conversation
At times holding something in that you really want to say to someone can lead to frustration and even depression. Have that difficult conversation and you’ll feel better for it.
How you spend the first 20 minutes of the day can set the tone for the rest of it. Have a morning routine where you prime yourself to feel great for the rest of the day. This could be by listening to motivational videos, doing some yoga or thinking about all the positive things in your life. Taking a moment to be grateful for them will do wonders for your happiness.
Control how others make you feel
You can’t control other people, but you can control how their actions make you feel. Next time someone directs anger, hate or mean words towards you, shrug it off and you’ll be a stronger person for it.
Research has indicated that meditation can make you a happier person. Take a few moments out of the day to give meditation a try.
The act of laughing will make you happier. Therefore, meet with a few friends that you can have a good time with, or simply watch a funny stand-up video.
Get a map and plot a course for a destination that you have never visited before. Even if the vacation is just for a few days you’ll feel happier by the end. Ensure laptops and mobile devices are disconnected to get fully immersed in the vacation.
Think of something you’ll feel is an interesting challenge and immerse yourself in that activity. It might be training to run a marathon or write a book. You don’t have to complete the challenge to feel happy either. The act of pursuing the goal will instantly make you feel like there’s meaning to your life, which leads to feeling happier.
Alternatively, challenge yourself to get all current tasks complete that you have been putting off.
Now that you have more ideas on how to be a happier person, give some of them a try. If one suggestion doesn’t work, then another one might. We are all different and different things motivate, inspire or make us satisfied. In the end being proactive about your happiness can only lead to good things.
