The mind is a marvelous thing. It’s what sets us apart from other mammals. It can create good, bad, and everything in between. Let’s take a look at a some highly effective ways to develop an evolutionary mindset.
Commit Yourself to Evolution
When you are committed to growth, you will become a constant learner, rather than an intellectual “knower.” Pay attention to what information helps you grow, and what information makes you stagnate. For example, watching reality TV shows every night will do you far more harm than good, whereas listening to an enlightening podcast will evolve your mind in wonderful ways.
When you practice self-reflection you foster objectivity. This helps you see how you’re developing. Take the time to write in a journal or meditate on your mental growth. Self-reflection is a natural way to develop greater awareness.
Taking time to meditate helps you spend time in transpersonal states of consciousness. Meditation helps us strengthen our focus, attention, and awareness. It helps teach us how to become the witness of our minds, while also helping us grow psychologically.
Beware of Assumptions
Pay attention when you make assumptions. Things are rarely as they seem. Always question your assumptions as well as the status quo. There are always deeper perspectives than the one you’re having in a given moment. Nothing is ever black or white. The many shades of gray make life interesting, and when you constantly question assumptions, and ask, “Is that really true,” you’ll be growing and evolving your mind in a big way.
Seek out different perspectives
Taking the time to collect many different perspectives is an art in and of itself. In practically any situation, try to get diverse viewpoints. Seek worldviews that are different from your own. Celebrate differences, and expand your overall view of the world.
Hang out with mentally developed people
If you want to improve your mental capacity, hang out with people who are doing the same. If you want to grow your wealth, hang out with wealthy people. Spend time with those who will challenge you and offer up highly developed insights. Be humble, and accept that you are constantly evolving.
